As the new Chair for 2017-18 I would like to welcome all the new members and hope the London chapter continues to provide you with better services. I would like to introduce myself a bit, my name is Mitesh Chaudhari and I am currently employed in 3M Canada as a Product Engineer in the Product and Quality Engineering department. I have completed my masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and did my bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. As an engineer, it was clear to me since the beginning of my employment that to compete in the current world, be it in manufacturing or service, the one thing that separates an organization for the other is the “Quality”. Hence I wanted to work in Quality to understand the processes and goals and strategies to achieve those goals, eventually then realized that you cannot just work in Quality, the Quality has to be in your culture.
Recently we concluded the meeting on Lean Six Sigma presented by 3M Canada master black belt Mr. Arun Muthu. This is a beginning of the major course that ASQ London Chapter is taking. Understanding the requirements of the members, communicating and taking it even a step ahead is the aim of ASQ 403 for the year 2017-18. With regards to this aim, we are trying to provide as many relevant meetings and talks to our full and student members alike.
Some of our goals this year are improving our social media presence, supporting local Canadian conferences, partnering with other professional societies for ideas sharing and also with Universities and Colleges to provide help and support to future quality professionals.

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my friend, Mark Pridham. Mark was an ASQ London Executive Member for many years in the role of Membership Chair and as Proctor at ASQ certification exams. I had the pleasure to work with Mark on many projects and presentations for ASQ. I remembering sharing a laugh when we were scrambling to put together the red bead experiment presentation on short notice, shortly after our guest speaker had unexpectedly cancelled; unusual circumstances didn't seem to faze Mark. He would just shrug and carry-on with the task, using his life experiences to show another side of the story. My condolences to Mark's family and friends. Rest in Peace, my friend.
A Memorial Service for Mark will be held on Sat. November 19, 2016 at Exeter Bible Fellowship, 187 Huron Street West, Exeter, Ontario. Visitation with the family at 1:00 pm, Service begins at 2:00 pm. Mr Bob Heywood officiating.
Mark's Obituary Notice
A friend of mind once told me that he loved the change of seasons; and that he didn't really appreciate the transition from one season to the next until he had lived in the southern USA for many years and came back to live in Canada. The state where he lived tended to be sunny and warm year-round, so the Canadian climate was quite a adjustment.
The change of season also marks the start of ASQ-London fall meeting schedule. On September 15, we are touring the new Canadian Centre for Product Validation (CCPV) in London, a fascinating testing and product validation centre.
